Task1

Do you like talking with your elders(uncles, aunts, etc)? why or why not?

Yes I do.

I just like to hear their stories. We will spend copious amounts of money to watch movies

that tell stories that are not any better than the real life adventures these elderly folk have

lived through. Get any older veteran to start telling tales of World War 2 and you will see

the memories flooding his expressions as he re-lives each moment again whilst relating it

to you.

Also, I learn from their wisdom and experience. My Grandad would always tell me that

you can only change one person in a situation and that is yourself. He was a wise man. He

also taught me to hold a wine bottle by the neck and a woman by the waist, and not to get

the two mixed up!

Task2

If you have broken furniture or small appliances do you prefer to have them repaired in a

shop or try to fix them yourself?

I would personally like to repair them by myself.

For one, repairing furniture is easier for me than for most people. As an art major, I was

trained to make my own chairs and tables in college. I had to make my product not only

stable but also beautiful enough to reach the requirement of the school. So I am pretty

confident that I could fix them myself when I need to.

For another, it is less costly to do it myself. Materials, available at your local paint store or

home center, are inexpensive. However, repair shop would cost you more money as well

as time since you are not the only customer that they have.
